SONGS OF IRON
Earth is the planet of water, and the planet of iron.
The transition of nature is the flow of time itself.
Since the birth of humankind, we human beings have always been moved with the flow.
I found the multifaceted nature of iron, a material both old and new, in the history of the flow of time in that era and set it as my theme.
Iron is collected from the natural world and turned into tools by human hands.
Eventually, the tools oxidize, weather, and deteriorate, become traces of human activity, and eventually return to nature.
By contrasting this aspect with the life force of the natural world (water) that moistens and circulates plants, I want to explore the essence of life and its behavior, which repeats generation and extinction.
The wedge is one of the oldest tools available to humankind.
This time, I tried to highlight the rusted iron texture of the wedge as a symbol of the creation and the unflagging spirit that is etched in the memory of humankind.
In my work, rust and wedges of iron that have been eroded by water are assimilated into the vitality and diversity of plants, and I want to express them as a new phenomenon, harmonizing the traces of humankind and the natural world.
In the flow of eternal time, while being protected by the core iron of the earth.
